For Leland Dieno, founder of Tulameen Tea Company, the region isn’t just a geographical location; it’s a sanctuary of childhood adventures and timeless connections. Raised amidst the rugged beauty of the Similkameen and Otter Valleys, Leland’s upbringing was a symphony of fishing trips, 4×4 escapades, and evenings spent swapping stories by crackling campfires.

But amidst the bustling activity, it was the tranquil moments shared with his Nana and Grandpa in Tulameen that left an indelible mark on Leland’s heart. The scent of Earl Grey tea lingering in the air, the warmth of family gatherings – these memories are etched in the fabric of his soul.

The spirit of Tulameen extends beyond familial ties. Bill and Doreen Sanderson, immigrants from England, chose Tulameen as their new home, weaving themselves into the vibrant tapestry of the community. Though they’ve since passed, their legacy lives on, an enduring testament to the enduring spirit of Tulameen. Leland has fond memories spending his childhood vacations and summers in Tulameen with his Nana and Grandpa (Dorren and Bill) and drinking black tea 3 times a day, at very specific “Tea time”. Every morning started off with a cup as he sat at their kitchen table with them watching the small community around them wake up. The passion of drinking tea continued throughout his childhood, teenage years and as an adult and father now. Leland religiously still drinks atleast 2 cups a day because of the tradition he shared with his grandparents.

Fueled by a deep-seated love for black tea nurtured amidst these idyllic surroundings, Leland embarked on a quest to capture the essence of his cherished memories. Tulameen Tea Company emerged as a homage to these roots – a sanctuary where tradition meets innovation, and every sip carries the whispers of bygone days.
